Margherita pizza is a classic Italian pizza made with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and fresh basil leaves.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pizza dough
  • ½ cup tomato sauce
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • basil leaves fresh
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough into a 12-inch (30cm) circle.
  3. Place the dough onto a pizza pan or baking sheet.
  4. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the surface of the dough, leaving a small border around the edge.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce.
  6. Add a few whole basil leaves on top of the cheese.
  7. Drizzle the pizza with a little bit of olive oil and sprinkle a pinch of salt.
  8. Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
  10. Slice the pizza into wedges and serve hot.
