I like to make blueberry and lemon pancakes using lemon zest. I thought this would work great as I wouldn't need a fresh lemon every time I wanted to make these.
Well, even after adding to the water and warming it up in the microwave before using, it still doesn't have that full, rich lemon flavor that fresh lemon zest does.
Perhaps I'm being overly picky but to me there's a distinct difference between this and fresh zest.
So, in my case, I'd recommend sticking with fresh lemon if you can.
Edit: Some fun pointers – You can freeze zest! Not only that, but orange zest works just as well with blueberry pancakes too. Zest a few teaspoons worth of zest and freeze in a small freezer proof container. Drop a bit as needed in some warm water (if being used in your recipe) and everything's like normal.

I use California lemon peel as an ingredient for my family’s favorite steak seasoning so we go through it pretty fast. However, it is hard to find, only one store in my area carries it but for some reason it’s very expensive. I’m grateful I can find the same exact lemon peel that I use at a reasonable price. No issues with the bottle which is always a good thing. The expiration date is well in advance and I am sure it will all be used up by then. These are great in sugar cookies and if you add a dab of sour cream in the mix, it's a great taste and a smooth soft cookie plus, the cookie was fuller than the normal flat cookies that usually come out. I will definitely buy this again when I need to. Quick Shipping!
