Ingredients
- 1 pound roast beef thinly sliced
- 4 French baguettes or sandwich rolls
- 1 onion thinly sliced
- 4 slices provolone or Swiss cheese
- 4 cups beef broth
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they are caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- In a saucepan, heat the beef broth over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and season with salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer.
- Add the sliced roast beef to the simmering broth and heat for a few minutes until warmed through.
- Slice the French baguettes or rolls in half lengthwise and place them on a baking sheet. Toast them in the preheated oven for a few minutes until they are lightly crispy.
- Assemble the sandwiches by layering the roast beef, caramelized onions, and a slice of cheese on the bottom half of each baguette or roll.
- Use the top half of the baguette or roll to cover the sandwich and press down gently.
- Serve the sandwiches with a side of the warm au jus broth for dipping.
- Enjoy!
