Ingredients
- 4 cups water
- 2 cups mixed fruit fresh or dried, (Good combos: apples & cherries, plums & apricots, berries & pears)
- 3โ4 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)
Optional:
- 1 slice lemon
- 1 small cinnamon stick
- few cloves for extra aroma
Instructions
- Wash and cut larger fruits into pieces. Remove pits or seeds if needed. If using dried fruits, rinse them well.
- In a saucepan, bring the water to a gentle boil. Add the fruit and sugar.
- Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 15โ25 minutes, until the fruit is soft and the liquid is flavored and a bit colored.
- Toss in lemon, cinnamon, or cloves during the last 5 minutes of cooking for a fragrant twist.
- Let the kompot cool to room temperature. You can serve it warm in winter or chilled over ice in summer. Donโt forget to spoon up some of the fruitโitโs the best part!
