Soy-glazed flank steak is a delicious dish made by marinating flank steak in a mixture of soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and other flavorful ingredients, then grilling or searing it until it’s cooked to your liking. The soy sauce adds a savory umami flavor, while the glaze caramelizes slightly, creating a tasty crust on the outside of the steak.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds flank steak
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

All

Method

  1. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, vegetable oil, and sesame oil to make the marinade.
  2. Place the flank steak in a shallow dish or resealable plastic bag and pour the marinade over the steak. Make sure the steak is coated evenly. Cover or seal and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or up to 8 hours, turning occasionally.
  3. Preheat your grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the marinade.
  5. Grill the flank steak for about 5-7 minutes per side for medium-rare, or longer if you prefer it more well done. Cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of the steak.
  6. Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain.
  7. Serve the sliced steak on a platter, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired.
  8. Enjoy!
