Plov is a traditional Central Asian dish made with rice, meat, carrots, and spices. It's a delicious one-pot meal that is popular in countries like Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups long-grain rice
  • 1 lb lamb or beef, cut into small pieces
  • 2 large carrots julienned
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 cups water or broth

Method
 

  1. In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the meat and cook until browned on all sides.
  2. Add the onions and garlic to the pot and sauté until the onions are soft and translucent.
  3. Stir in the carrots and cook until they start to soften.
  4. Add the rice to the pot and stir to coat the rice in the oil and meat juices.
  5. Sprinkle in the cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  6. Pour in the water or broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover the pot, and let simmer for about 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.
  7. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.
  8. Enjoy!
