Ingredients
- 1 cup glutinous rice flour
- 1/4 cup red bean paste
- 1/4 cup lotus seed paste
- 1/4 cup black sesame paste
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 4 cups water
- sweet syrup for serving optional
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the glutinous rice flour with 1/2 cup of water. Knead the mixture until it forms a smooth dough. Divide the dough into small balls, about the size of a marble.
- Flatten each dough ball and place a small amount of red bean paste, lotus seed paste, or black sesame paste in the center. Seal the dough around the filling and roll it into a smooth ball.
- In a separate pot, bring 3 1/2 cups of water to a boil. Add in the sugar and stir until dissolved.
- Gently drop the filled dough balls into the boiling water. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the balls float to the surface.
- Serve the Ba Bao Yuanzi in bowls with some of the cooking liquid as a sweet syrup.
- Enjoy!
