Chocolate Chip Cake

  • measuring cups
  • springform pan
  • 1 cup margarine (softened)
  • 1 package cream  cheese (softened, 8 ounce)
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar (divided)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semisweet)
  • 1/4 cup pecans (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (ground)
  1. Make batter:

    Greased a 9 inch springform pan.

    In a mixing bowl add, the butter, cream cheese and 1 1/4 cups of sugar to form a creamed mixture. Beat in eggs and vanilla.

    Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Alternating with milk add creamed mixture then milk until all is transferred.

    Stir in chocolate chips. Pour into baking pan.

    Mix the pecans, cinnamon and remaining sugar. Use to sprinkle over batter.

  2. Bake:

    Bake at 350 degrees F for 50-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 15 minutes. Carefully run a knife around edge of pan to loosen cake from pan. release springs and remove sides of pan.

    Cool completely before cutting.
