Ingredients
  

  • 1 whole duck (about 5-6 pounds)
  • 1 tablespoon Chinese five-spice powder
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • thin pancakes (store-bought or homemade)
  • Hoisin sauce
  • cucumbers thinly sliced
  • scallions thinly sliced

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. Clean the duck and pat it dry with paper towels.
  3. Mix the five-spice powder, honey, soy sauce, and rice vinegar in a small bowl to create a marinade.
  4. Brush the marinade over the duck, both inside and out, and let it marinate for at least an hour in the refrigerator.
  5. Place the duck on a rack in a roasting pan and roast in the oven for about 2 hours, or until the skin is crispy and the meat is cooked through.
  6. Remove the duck from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before carving.
  7. To serve, carve the duck into thin slices and serve with the pancakes, hoisin sauce, cucumbers, and scallions for wrapping.
