After moving away from the Tampa Bay area, I lost some of my international cooking ingredients that I could find in "Little Cuba" and areas around Tampa Bay. I was delighted to purchase this bag of seedless tamarind paste and I've been having fun using it in a variety of recipes; Indian to Caribbean. It makes a great addition to sauces, marinades, and desserts, and it certainly is healthy too. Just a taste of the sweet and sour paste and our family just imagines heading to the Caribbean where we first tasted the inside of tamarind seed pods.

Very sour, more than the jarred brand, so you need less. Economical. Fairly hardstiff paste so takes some force to scoop out a spoonful.

I know what tamarind tastes like having grown up in a country where it’s used a lot in our cuisine. My parents even had a tamarind tree. I don’t know what’s in this but it’s not tamarind. This has such a weird taste and smell- it smelled and tasted sort of “chemical” at first and then there was a bit of sourness that is slightly like tamarind. This has been processed too much and bears little resemblance to the natural product. It’s easy to use ( if you can get past the taste) since it’s in paste form- that’s the only pro. But I won’t be using it so it’s not really a pro for me. It says returnable but how do you return something like this once you open it? Right into the trash this went !

We love how the paste is a better quality than what we found in an Asian grocery store. This product didn't have seeds, fibers, or grit (dirt?) like the one from the store had.
Highly recommend
