Quite odiferousI’ve never used dashi powder before so I have nothing to compare it to. The odor from the broth is quite strong and maybe that’s norma, but I did smell the fishy odor the following day. I am giving it 4 stars because it is so simple to use. I used it in a recipe so I can not comment of the taste of it straight up, but in the recipe it added a nice layer of flavor. The quality of the packaging is nice, including the packets. They hold up well in the water and even when stirring them to release extra flavor.

This dashi stock is a game changer! I used it for miso soup, but it’s also perfect for fish stock in so many other recipes. Great flavor, super easy to use, and now a permanent staple in my cupboard. Will definitely buy again and again!
What I Love About This Dashi! –
Umami DashiThese dashi packets are so easy to use and so tasty. I use two cups of water for 1 packet but I believe 4 cups would also work well and provide plenty of flavor. When I tried making dashi the original way it produces 4 cups of broth. It is high quality, the soup base has depth, and for the amount you get you are getting good value for your money. I've had these packets for a year now and they are still good, nice shelf life.
