Ziti alla Genovese
Ingredients
- 1 pound ziti pasta
- 1 pound beef chuck cut into small pieces
- 2 large onions thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the beef pieces and brown them on all sides. Remove the beef from the pot and set aside.
- In the same pot, add the sliced onions and garlic. Sauté until the onions are soft and translucent.
- Add the browned beef back to the pot. Pour in the white wine and let it simmer until it evaporates.
- Add the dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
- Cover the pot and let the sauce simmer on low heat for about 1.5-2 hours, stirring occasionally, until the beef is tender and the flavors are well developed.
- In a separate pot, cook the ziti pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta.
- Combine the cooked ziti pasta with the Genovese sauce. Toss gently to coat the pasta evenly with the sauce.
- Serve the Ziti alla Genovese hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese.
- Enjoy!
