Aeblekage is a traditional Danish dessert made with layers of apples, breadcrumbs, sugar, and sometimes cinnamon. It's a delicious and comforting treat often served with whipped cream or vanilla sauce.

Ingredients
  

  • 4-5 apples peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (try using Danish butter cookies crumbs for a twist)
  • 4 tablespoons butter melted
  • Whipped cream or vanilla sauce for serving

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the sliced apples with half of the sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the breadcrumbs with the remaining sugar and melted butter.
  4. In a baking dish, layer half of the apple mixture followed by half of the breadcrumb mixture. Repeat with the remaining apples and breadcrumbs.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  6. Serve warm with a dollop of whipped cream or vanilla sauce.
  7. Enjoy!
