Biksemad is a traditional Danish dish made of diced meat (usually beef or pork), potatoes, onions, and sometimes other vegetables like peppers or carrots. It’s typically pan-fried and seasoned with salt, pepper, and sometimes herbs.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb beef diced or pork
  • 4-5 medium potatoes peeled and diced
  • 1 onion diced
  • 1 red bell pepper diced (optional)
  • 1 carrot diced (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Butter or oil for frying
  • fresh parsley chopped for garnish (optional)
  • 1 egg fried, for serving

Method
 

  1. In a large skillet or frying pan, heat some butter or oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the diced meat to the pan and cook until browned and cooked through.
  3. Remove the meat from the pan and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add a bit more butter or oil if needed, then add the diced potatoes. Cook until they start to brown and become tender.
  5. Add the diced onion, bell pepper, and carrot to the pan. Cook until the vegetables are softened.
  6. Return the cooked meat to the pan and mix everything together. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Cook everything together for a few more minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  8. Serve the Biksemad hot, garnished with some chopped fresh parsley on top or fried egg if desired.
  9. Enjoy!
