Langos is a popular Hungarian street food that consists of deep-fried dough, typically topped with toppings like sour cream, cheese, garlic butter, or even Nutella.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • Oil for frying
Toppings of your choice :
  • sour cream
  • grated cheese
  • garlic butter
  • shrimp etc

Method
 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Gradually add the warm water and mix until a dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Cover the dough and let it rest for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  3. Once the dough has risen, divide it into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a ball. Flatten each ball into a round disc, about 1/4 inch thick.
  4. Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large pan to 350°F (180°C). Carefully place the dough discs into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  5. Remove the langos from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  6. Serve the langos hot with your favorite toppings such as sour cream, grated cheese, garlic butter, shrimp or Nutella.
  7. Enjoy!
