Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk canned
  • 12 oz evaporated milk canned
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Whipped cream for topping (optional)
  • fresh fruit for topping (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a 9×9 inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture, alternating with the milk and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. In a separate bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and heavy cream.
  7. Once the cake is done baking, remove it from the oven and pierce the top all over with a fork.
  8. Slowly pour the milk mixture over the cake, making sure to evenly distribute it.
  9. Let the cake cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight) to allow the milk mixture to soak in.
  10. Serve the Tres Leches Cake chilled, and top with whipped cream and fresh fruit if desired.
  11. Enjoy!
