Fried apple cobbler
Fried apple cobbler is a delicious twist on the classic dessert. It typically consists of sliced apples that are coated in cinnamon and sugar, then fried in oil until they are golden and crispy. The fried apples are often served over a warm cobbler crust, creating a delightful combination of crispy and soft textures. It’s a sweet and indulgent treat that is perfect for satisfying your dessert cravings.
- 4 apples (peeled, cored, and sliced)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- Oil (for frying)
- Vanilla ice cream ((optional, for serving))
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss until the apples are well coated and set aside.
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour, brown sugar, and melted butter until crumbly. This will be your cobbler topping.
- Heat oil in a deep pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Make sure the oil is hot but not smoking.
- Carefully add a portion of the apple mixture to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry the apples until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove the fried apples from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- Repeat the frying process with the remaining apple slices.
- To serve, divide the fried apples among 4 serving plates and sprinkle the cobbler topping over the apples.
- Serve the fried apple cobbler warm, topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.
- Enjoy!
