Chicken in tomato sauce
Ingredients
- 4 chicken breasts boneless, skinless
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion diced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 can diced tomatoes 14 oz
- 1 can tomato sauce 8 oz
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese for garnish
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook until browned on both sides, about 5 minutes per side. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the diced onion and garlic. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, and basil to the skillet. Stir to combine.
- Return the chicken breasts to the skillet, nestling them into the tomato sauce.
- Cover the skillet and simmer over low heat for about 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
- Serve the chicken in tomato sauce hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves. Enjoy!
