Bethmännchen is a traditional German pastry originating from Frankfurt. It is a small, marzipan-based confection, typically topped with three almond halves.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound marzipan
  • 1/4 pound powdered sugar
  • 1 egg white
  • 1/2 cup whole almonds

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the marzipan, powdered sugar, and egg white. Mix until well combined and the dough is smooth.
  3. Form the dough into small balls, about the size of a cherry.
  4. Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Press one almond half into the top of each ball, forming a cross pattern.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until the Bethmännchen are lightly golden.
  7. Let them cool before serving.
  8. Enjoy!
