- Clean and wash the Katla fish steaks thoroughly. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
- In a bowl, mix together the ginger paste, garlic paste, lemon juice, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt to form a marinade.
- Coat the fish steaks evenly with the marinade. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate the fish.
- Heat oil in a frying pan or deep fryer. Make sure the oil is hot enough for frying.
- Carefully place the marinated fish steaks into the hot oil, one at a time. Be cautious to avoid any oil splatter.
- Fry the fish steaks on medium heat until they turn golden brown and crispy on both sides.
- Once cooked, remove the fish steaks from the oil and place them on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.
- Serve the Katla machh bhaja hot with steamed rice, roti, or any side dish of your choice.
