Ingredients
  

  • 2 pounds Katla fish steaks
  • 1 tablespoon ginger paste
  • 1 tablespoon garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Method
 

  1. Clean and wash the Katla fish steaks thoroughly. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the ginger paste, garlic paste, lemon juice, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt to form a marinade.
  3. Coat the fish steaks evenly with the marinade. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate the fish.
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan or deep fryer. Make sure the oil is hot enough for frying.
  5. Carefully place the marinated fish steaks into the hot oil, one at a time. Be cautious to avoid any oil splatter.
  6. Fry the fish steaks on medium heat until they turn golden brown and crispy on both sides.
  7. Once cooked, remove the fish steaks from the oil and place them on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.
  8. Serve the Katla machh bhaja hot with steamed rice, roti, or any side dish of your choice.
