Fuqi feipian

Fuqi feipian

Fuqi feipian is a popular Sichuan dish from China. It’s made with thinly sliced beef or beef offal, tossed in a spicy and numbing sauce, typically made with Sichuan peppercorns, chili oil, garlic, and other flavorful ingredients.

  • 1 pound beef ((such as flank steak or beef offal))
  • 2 tablespoons Sichuan peppercorns
  • 4 tablespoons chili oil
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon black vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cucumber (thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 cup roasted peanuts (crushed)
  • Fresh cilantro (for garnish)
  1. Start by boiling the beef in a pot of water until cooked through. This should take around 15-20 minutes. Once cooked, remove the beef from the pot and let it cool before slicing it thinly.
  2. In a small skillet, dry toast the Sichuan peppercorns over medium heat for a few minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat and grind them into a fine powder using a mortar and pestle or a spice grinder.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the chili oil, minced garlic, soy sauce, black vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, and salt. Mix well until the sauce is thoroughly combined.
  4. Place the sliced beef in a large bowl and pour the sauce over it. Gently toss the beef slices until they are well coated with the sauce.
  5. To serve, arrange the sliced beef on a serving platter. Top with thinly sliced cucumber and crushed peanuts. Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves.
