Jamaican Fried Roast Breadfruit
Ingredients
Method
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Using a sharp knife, make a few shallow cuts into the skin of the breadfruit to allow steam to escape during roasting.
- Place the breadfruit on a baking sheet and roast it in the preheated oven for about 1 to 1.5 hours, or until the skin turns dark brown and cracks open slightly.
- Remove the breadfruit from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes until it is safe to handle.
- Cut off the ends of the breadfruit and make an incision along its length. Gently peel off the skin. Remove any seeds or core if present.
- Slice the breadfruit into desired shapes, such as rounds or wedges.
- Fill a deep frying pan with vegetable oil and heat it over medium-high heat.
- Carefully place the breadfruit slices into the hot oil and fry them until they become golden and crispy on both sides. This usually takes about 3-5 minutes per side.
- Once fried, use a slotted spoon to transfer the breadfruit slices onto a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Sprinkle with salt to taste while the breadfruit is still hot.
- Serve your Jamaican Fried Roast Breadfruit as a side dish alongside your favorite main course, or enjoy it on its own as a flavorful snack!
