  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, yeast and salt.
  • Add the melted butter, milk, water and egg. Mix together until you have a dough.
  • Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  • Place the dough in a clean bowl, cover it with a clean tea towel and leave to rise for 1 hour until it has doubled in size.
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  • Grease a muffin tin with cooking spray or butter.
  • In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar, cinnamon, currants and softened butter.
  • On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle shape, about 12×9 inches.
  • Spread the filling evenly over the dough.
  • Roll up the dough from the long edge and cut it into 12 equally sized pieces.
  • Place each piece into the muffin tin.
  • Cover the muffin tin with a clean tea towel and leave to raise for 30 minutes.
  • Brush the tops of the buns with the beaten egg.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until the buns are golden brown.
  • Once cooked, take the Chelsea bun cups out of the oven and leave them to cool on a wire rack.
  • Serve and enjoy!
