Delicious Garlic Sauced Italian Sausage & Mixed Pepper Pizza
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 10 oz. Italian sausage casings removed
- 2 medium green bell peppers thinly sliced
- 2 medium red bell peppers thinly sliced
- 1 medium red onion thinly sliced
- 1 lb. pizza dough homemade or store-bought
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 2 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup fresh parsley chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1/2 lemon juiced
- Sea salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450˚ degrees F.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add sausage and cook, breaking up the sausage with a wooden spoon and stirring occasionally, until sausage is lightly browned, approximately 4-5 minutes.
- Add peppers and onion. Season with salt and pepper, to taste. Cook, stirring occasionally, until peppers are soft and slightly brown, approximately 6-8 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Prepare a pizza pan or baking sheet, lining with parchment paper, if desired.
- Roll out pizza dough and transfer to prepared pizza pan.
- Spoon tomato sauce over the pizza dough. Add mozzarella cheese. Spoon the sausage and pepper mixture on top of the cheese.
- Place the pizza in the oven and bake 13-15 minutes or until crust is golden-brown around the edges and the cheese melted.
- While pizza is baking, combine yogurt, mayonnaise, parsley, garlic, and fresh lemon juice in a small bowl. Whisk until combined.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and slice into 8 slices. Drizzle pizza with garlic sauce and serve immediately. Enjoy!
