Ingredients
- 2 lbs beef brisket trimmed of excess fat
- 1 onion diced
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp chili paste (adjust to taste)
- 1 cup beef broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooking oil
- green onions chopped for garnish
Instructions
- Heat some oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Season the beef brisket with salt and pepper, then sear it in the pot until browned on all sides. Remove the brisket and set it aside.
- In the same pot, add a little more oil if needed and sauté the diced onion and minced garlic until fragrant.
- Stir in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and chili paste. Mix well to combine.
- Return the seared brisket to the pot, along with the beef broth. Bring to a simmer.
- Cover the pot and reduce the heat to low. Let the brisket simmer for about 3-4 hours, or until it is fork-tender and the sauce has thickened.
- Once the brisket is cooked, remove it from the pot and shred it using two forks.
- Return the shredded beef to the pot and simmer for an additional 15-20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
- Serve the spicy beef brisket hot, garnished with chopped green onions. Enjoy!
