Ingredients
- 6-7 medium apples peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 package pie crust store-bought or homemade (for top and bottom crust)
- 2 tbsp butter cut into small pieces
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, flour, and lemon juice. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.
- Roll out one pie crust and line a 9-inch pie dish with it.
- Pour the apple mixture into the pie crust, spreading it out evenly.
- Dot the top of the apples with the butter pieces.
- Roll out the second pie crust and place it over the apples. Seal the edges of the crusts together and crimp as desired.
- Cut a few slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- Optionally, brush the top crust with milk or egg wash for a golden finish.
- Place the pie on a baking sheet (to catch any drips) and bake for about 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
- Allow the pie to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
