  • 1 cup dried figs chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted and cooled
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9-inch cake pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs until light and frothy.
  4. Add the melted butter and milk to the eggs and stir to combine.
  5. Add the chopped figs to the wet mixture and stir to combine.
  6. Add the wet mixture to the dry mixture and stir until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the greased cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  9. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool for 10-15 minutes before removing it from the pan.
  10. Once it has cooled, dust the cake with powdered sugar before serving.
