Siu Mai is a type of Chinese dumpling made with ground pork, shrimp, and seasonings, wrapped in a thin wonton wrapper and steamed. It is often topped with a small piece of carrot or cilantro and can be served with soy sauce or chili oil for dipping.
In a large bowl, combine the ground pork, shiitake mushrooms, water chestnuts, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and ground white pepper.
Mix the ingredients together until well combined.
Take a wonton wrapper and place it in the palm of your hand.
Spoon a tablespoon of the pork mixture onto the center of the wrapper.
Gather the edges of the wrapper around the filling and pinch them together at the top.
Repeat with the remaining wonton wrappers and filling.
Place the Siu Mai on a steaming tray or in a bamboo steamer and steam over high heat for 8-10 minutes.
Top with carrot or desired topping. Sserve with soy sauce or chili oil. Enjoy!
