Ingredients

  • 2 lbs potatoes peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 1/2 lb smoked sausage sliced
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup grated cheese (such as Gouda or Cheddar)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Paprika for garnish
All

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large pot, boil the sliced potatoes until they are just tender. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, sauté the chopped onion until translucent. Add the sliced smoked sausage and cook until lightly browned.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the sour cream, salt, and pepper.
  5. Grease a baking dish and start layering the ingredients: start with a layer of potatoes, then add a layer of the sausage and onion mixture, followed by a drizzle of the sour cream mixture, and a sprinkle of grated cheese. Repeat until you've used up all the ingredients, finishing with a layer of cheese on top.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-40 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Garnish with a sprinkle of paprika for some extra flavor.
  8. Enjoy!
