Kanelbullar is a traditional Swedish pastry known as cinnamon buns. They are delicious sweet rolls flavored with cinnamon and often topped with pearl sugar.
In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Add the softened butter and the milk-yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until smooth. Place the dough back in the bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Roll out the dough into a rectangle shape. Spread the softened butter over the dough and sprinkle with a mixture of cinnamon and brown sugar.
Roll up the dough tightly from the long side and cut into 1-inch slices.
Place the rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let them rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake the Kanelbullar in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
Optional: Sprinkle pearl sugar on top of the buns before baking for an extra sweet touch.
Let the Kanelbullar cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
