Jamaican Tamarind Sugar Balls are sweet and tangy treats made from tamarind pulp, sugar, and spices like ginger and cinnamon. They are rolled into small balls and coated in sugar for a delicious snack with a unique tropical flavor.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup tamarind pulp seedless
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon optional
  • sugar additional for coating

Method
 

  1. In a bowl add sugar. If using ginger and or cinnamon, add to sugar and mix.
  2. Add a tablespoon full of tamarind pulp to sugar mixture and mix. Use your hands to roll into a ball. Drop again in sugar mixture and mix around for added coating. Remove and set aside.
  3. Repeat the process. Serve immediately or store in a zipper bag. Enjoy!

Notes

Ginger or small amount of cayenne can be added. Be careful giving young children tamarind balls containing seeds but the seedless preparation would be ideal.
