Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old rice)
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Optional:
  • green onions chopped
  • diced carrots
  • peas
  • sesame seeds
  • cooked protein your choice (like chicken, shrimp, or tofu)

Method
 

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned.
  3. Add the optional vegetables or protein if desired and cook until they are heated through.
  4. Add the cooked rice to the skillet, breaking up any clumps with a spoon or spatula.
  5. Drizzle the soy sauce and sesame oil over the rice and mix well to combine.
  6. Cook the rice, stirring occasionally, for another 5-7 minutes until heated through and slightly crispy.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions, or sesame seeds if desired, and serve hot.
