Add the optional vegetables or protein if desired and cook until they are heated through.
Add the cooked rice to the skillet, breaking up any clumps with a spoon or spatula.
Drizzle the soy sauce and sesame oil over the rice and mix well to combine.
Cook the rice, stirring occasionally, for another 5-7 minutes until heated through and slightly crispy.
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Garnish with chopped green onions, or sesame seeds if desired, and serve hot.
