Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • Food coloring (optional)

Method
 

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and baking powder.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the water, vegetable oil, baking soda, and rice vinegar.
  3. Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until well combined.
  4. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to the batter for a more vibrant look.
  5. Grease small ramekins or muffin tins and fill them with the batter about 2/3 full.
  6. Steam the cakes over high heat for about 15-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the Fa gao cool before serving.
