• Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
• In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
• Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
• Gradually add the flour and salt to the mixture, stirring until a smooth dough forms.
• Transfer the dough into a piping bag fitted with a small round tip.
• Pipe the dough onto the prepared baking sheet in long, thin strips, resembling cat tongues.
• Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
• Allow the cattongues to cool completely on a wire rack before serving.

Optional:

• Melt the dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water or in the microwave.
• Dip one end of each cattongue into the melted chocolate and place them back on the parchment paper to set.
• Once the chocolate has hardened, your cattongues are ready to be enjoyed!
