Consistency very hardI didn't find this easy to use. I broke it up in pieces first but it took some beating before it became smooth.

Almond Paste perfect for BakingI used this almond paste in a recipe for bear claws. They turned out wonderfully, after using this. The paste is a bit of a pain to get out of the tube wrapping it is in. Once out, it blends perfectly with other ingredients, using an electric paddle mixer. As a filling, once mixed, it will move (for example is you are baking it and have added butter). This isn't marzipan and is an ingredient to be mixed/baked into something.
