SO GOOD in fried rice!!These shrimps make OK snacks though not amazing. There's delicious shrimp flavor, but the texture is kinda chewy. But they really really shine in cooking, especially stir-fry dishes that benefit from a burst of briny, savory shrimp flavor in every bite. Today I used them in fried rice and it was one of the best fried rice batches I've ever made. I cut a handful into thirds – seemed like the right size to deliver both flavor and texture. Tossed them briefly in hot oil to bring out the delicious briny seafood notes – too long would dry them out and make them too chewy – then added the rice and other colorful tasty stuff. They're actually better than dried shrimps made for cooking because those are too dense and hard; you need to soak them, but then you can't heat them in a hot pan to induce the Maillard reaction that creates delicious seared-protein flavors. In contrast, these are soft enough to eat to begin with, yet dry enough to roast in a hot pan. And this way is a very economical way to use them because it only took a small handful to elevate a whole pile of rice. I look forward to using them in stir-fried noodles as well.

Great for cookingThese dehydrated shrimps arrived in good shape. The pieces are a good size, over 2inches.
They're not great out of the box though and I'm not sure they're meant to be eaten straight out. When we tried it straight from the box it was super chewy.
Cooking it in oil for a stir fry brought out the best flavors though. I was able to taste it in the dish without any issues.
It will also probably work just as well in soups but I haven't tried that yet.
Overall it's pretty convenient and is good to have when I need. It does need to be stored in the refrigerator after it's opened though, so I can't store too much at once.

origin is not listed - but overall, good for seafood stocksI used this to make a shrimp stock for a quick tofu soup for dinner. I soaked some in hot water for 20 mins and then used that as my stock to add my other ingredients. It is a quick way to make a flavorful soup when you're wanting something warm. I would like to add that the origin is not listed. It does say packed in the USA and when I reached out to the company, they stated they are also from the USA. I personally feel that if so, it would have been listed on the product as such.

Good for cooking mainlyHas been wonderful shrimp so far. I like to grind them up instead of dropping them in whole. They add a nice raw flavor to soups and other dishes because they are dried up. Works perfectly. Color and size are that of regular shrimp. Everything is great.

Pairs nice with dried veggies to transform a plan ramenI got a little amused at some being squeamish over the heads being included. Here on the Gulf Coast while some remove heads before boiling or they buy shrimp already de-headed often shrimp is boiled whole and you remove the head when you peel to eat them. And for shrimp being de-headed/peeled before cooking any good/smart cook takes the shells including heads and makes a stock or freezes them to do so later, more flavor comes from a shrimp head in a shrimp stock than the shell that was around the tail. By these being the entire shrimp you are getting the max flavor possible from a dried shrimp product and these are a dried product, not freeze dried, you aren't going to want to top a salad with them or eat them out of the container, they should be rehydrated. I put 8 of them in some boiling water along with about 1/4 cup dried veggies to give them a head start before eventually adding a 3 oz bundle of thin udon noodles. When my noodles were nearing one I tasted the broth and it was a nice shrimp base flavor, I added my other seasonings and it was a quick delicious bowl better than any ramen pack/bowl cup out there (most who have reduced the shrimp and veggies). I was able to peel and get a little nugget out of them, not much but they were easy to peel and added to the experience.
