  • In a separate bowl, mix together the grated coconut, sugar, chopped nuts, cardamom powder, and ghee.
  • Take a portion of the mashed plantain and flatten it in your palm. Place a spoonful of the coconut mixture in the center and fold the plantain over to encase the filling. Shape it into an elongated oval.
  • Repeat the process for the remaining plantains and filling mixture.
  • Wrap each stuffed plantain in a piece of banana leaf or aluminum foil.
  • Steam the wrapped Unnakayas for about 15-20 minutes until they are heated through.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!
