Ingredients

  • 2 cups strong white bread flour
  • 1 cup malted grain flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (7g)
All

Method

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the strong white bread flour, malted grain flour, and salt.
  2. In a separate small bowl, mix the honey and lukewarm water until the honey is dissolved. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  3. Make a well in the dry ingredients and pour in the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough back in the bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Punch down the dough and shape it into a round loaf with a smaller ball of dough on top.
  7. Place the loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover with a clean towel and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Bake the loaf in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and hollow-sounding when tapped on the bottom.
  9. Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
  10. Enjoy!
