Dous Makos

Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour an 8×8 inch baking pan.
- In a bowl, cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
- Gradually add the flour and evaporated milk to the mixture, alternating between the two until well combined.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Divide the batter into two equal portions. Add food coloring to one portion if desired.
- Pour the plain batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
- Carefully spoon the colored batter on top of the plain batter, spreading it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the Dous Makos cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
- Garnish with crushed nuts if desired.
- Enjoy!
