Estonian Kringle is a traditional Estonian pastry that is often served during festive occasions. Ingredients
  

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Fillings of your choice:
  • cinnamon sugar
  • marzipan
  • nuts

Method
 

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
  3. Add the melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract to the yeast mixture and mix well.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and knead until a smooth dough forms.
  5. Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  7. Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
  8. Spread your desired filling evenly over the dough.
  9. Roll up the dough tightly to form a log and then twist it into a braid.
  10. Place the braid on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  12. Let the Kringle cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
