Method
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Peel and grate the potatoes using a box grater or a food processor.
- Place the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel or cheesecloth and squeeze out as much liquid as possible.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the grated potatoes, chopped onion, diced bacon, eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine.
- Grease a baking dish with butter and pour the potato mixture into the dish, spreading it out evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 to 1.5 hours, or until the top is crispy and golden brown.
- Serve the Kugelis hot, topped with sour cream or applesauce if desired.
