Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and then stir in the milk.
  3. Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until a smooth batter forms.
  4. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (180°C).
  5. Using a spoon, drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil to form small, round Knieküchle.
  6. Fry the Knieküchle for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Remove the fried Knieküchle from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  8. Dust the Knieküchle with powdered sugar before serving.
