Popcorn chicken is a delicious snack made from bite-sized pieces of chicken that are breaded and fried until golden and crispy. It’s named “popcorn” chicken because the small pieces resemble popcorn in size. It’s a popular finger food and can be enjoyed on its own or as a topping for salads, wraps, or even as a side dish with dipping sauces.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound chicken breasts boneless skinless cut into small, bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • Vegetable oil for frying
All

Method

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined.
  3. Dip each piece of chicken into the egg mixture, making sure it’s fully coated, then transfer it to the flour mixture. Coat the chicken with the flour mixture, pressing gently to ensure it adheres well.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or skillet over medium heat.
  5. Carefully place the coated chicken pieces into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them in batches if necessary.
  6. Cook the chicken for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and crispy. You can test a piece by cutting it open to make sure it’s cooked through.
  7. Once cooked, use a slotted spoon or tongs to remove the chicken from the oil and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb any excess oil.
  8. Serve your homemade popcorn chicken hot and enjoy!
