Baesuk
Ingredients
Method
- Peel the pears and cut them into quarters, removing the cores.
- In a large pot, add water, honey, cinnamon sticks, cloves, ginger (if using), and a pinch of salt. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Once the syrup is boiling, reduce the heat to low and carefully add the pear quarters.
- Gently simmer the pears in the syrup for about 30 minutes or until they become soft and translucent. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking.
- Once the pears are cooked, remove them from the syrup and allow them to cool slightly.
- Serve the baesuk warm or chilled, topped with some of the syrup and optional toppings like sliced almonds, raisins, or pine nuts.
