Ingredients
- 1 pound mutton (goat meat), cut into pieces
- 1 cup yogurt
- 2 tablespoons mustard oil
- 2 onions finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes pureed
- 2 teaspoons ginger paste
- 2 teaspoons garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 2 teaspoons red chili powder
- 2 teaspoons cumin powder
- 2 teaspoons coriander powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- In a bowl, marinate the mutton with yogurt, ginger paste, garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Heat mustard oil in a deep pan or pressure cooker over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.
- Add the tomato puree and cook until the oil starts to separate from the mixture.
- Add the marinated mutton to the pan and cook on high heat for a few minutes, stirring constantly.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let the mutton cook slowly for about 1.5 to 2 hours until it becomes tender. If using a pressure cooker, cook for about 4-5 whistles.
- Once the mutton is cooked, sprinkle garam masala powder over it and give it a final mix.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or Indian bread.
