Beshbarmak
Ingredients
- 1 kg lamb or beef ( approx 2|bs) cut into chunks
- 500 g flat noodles or homemade pasta
- 2 onions thinly sliced
- 4 potatoes peeled and cut into chunks
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, add the meat chunks and cover with water. Bring to a boil and let it simmer for about 1 to 1.5 hours, until the meat becomes tender.
- Once the meat is cooked, remove it from the pot and set it aside. Reserve the broth for later use.
- In the same pot, add the sliced onions and sauté them until they become translucent.
- Add the potatoes to the pot and pour in enough of the reserved broth to cover the potatoes. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer until the potatoes are cooked through.
- While the potatoes are cooking, boil the flat noodles (or homemade pasta) in a separate pot according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Once the potatoes are tender, return the cooked meat to the pot and season with salt and black pepper, to taste. Let it simmer for a few more minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- To serve, arrange a layer of cooked noodles on a large serving platter or individual plates. Place the meat and potato mixture on top of the noodles.
- Garnish with freshly chopped dill for added flavor and presentation.
