Keema curry is a traditional Indian dish made with ground meat (usually lamb or beef) mixed with spices and cooked with tomatoes, onions, and other vegetables. It is often served with rice and naan bread.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground lamb or beef
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger paste
  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 green chilies chopped
  • 1 tablespoon cumin seeds
  • 1 tablespoon coriander powder
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon garam masala
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 medium tomatoes chopped
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Fresh cilantro chopped
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Method
 

  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the cumin seeds and fry until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  2. Add the onions and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are softened and lightly browned.
  3. Add the garlic and ginger paste and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add the ground meat and cook, stirring frequently, until the meat is browned.
  5. Add the green chilies, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt, and garam masala and cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  6. Add the chopped tomatoes and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, until the tomatoes have broken down and become saucy.
  7. Add the frozen peas and water and stir well. Cover and simmer over medium-low heat for 10-15 minutes until the curry has thickened slightly.
  8. Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve with lemon wedges and your choice of rice or bread.
