Ingredients

Mock Version:

  • 16 oz. strawberries frozen
  • 1/3 cup orange juice fresh, about 1-2 large oranges
  • 1/3 cup lime juice fresh, about 3 large limes
  • 1/3 cup water

Garnish:

  • lime wheels
  • strawberries fresh

Optional:

  • water or ice if needed, to adjust consistency after blending
  • sugar
  • lime wedges to coat glass rim
  • 1 tbsp simple syrup 1-part sugar dissolved into 1-part warm water and cooled slightly, to sweeten

Instructions

  • Place half the frozen strawberries into a high-powered blender. Add lime juice and orange juice. Cover and blend on highest setting until smooth, approximately 1-2 minutes.
  • Remove vent cap on blender lid and add the remaining frozen strawberries one at a time while the blender is still running. Continue blending until all strawberries have been added and the mixture is completely smooth.
  • Note: For thicker margaritas, add some ice until desired consistency is reached. For thinner consistency, add a little water.
  • Pour into serving glasses and garnish with lime wheels and/or fresh strawberries right before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

One perk of making fruity frozen cocktails is that you don’t need to splurge on the most expensive liqueurs to achieve fantastic results. However, you will need a good quality 100% blue agave blanco (aka silver or white) tequila, an orange liqueur, such as Cointreau, Grand Marnier, or regular triple sec, and some fresh lime juice to pull it all together.
If desired, rub a lime wedge along the top of each glass and dip into a shallow bowl filled with some coarse sugar before filling.
