Amish Baked Apples
Ingredients
- 4 large apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 2 tablespoons butter melted
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
- Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Core the apples and slice off the tops of each apple to create a lid. Use a spoon to scoop out some of the flesh inside, creating a hollow cavity in each apple.
- In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, oats, melted butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and chopped nuts (if using) until well combined.
- Stuff each apple with the oat mixture, filling it to the top.
- Place the stuffed apples in a baking dish and put the apple lids back on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-40 minutes, or until the apples are tender.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
- Serve the Amish Baked Apples warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream on top.
- Enjoy!
