Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 2 1/2 teaspoons curry powder
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1/3 cup water
- 2 tablespoons margarine
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion finely diced
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
- 1 egg beaten
- 2 stalk scallion finely chopped
Instructions
Preparation of dough:
- In a bowl, combine flour, 1 1/2 teaspoons curry powder, and pinch of salt. Add margarine and shortening. Mix.
- Add water and mix until mixture is doughy. Shape dough into a long round cylinder , and cut into 10 equal sections. Roll each section into a six inch circle 1/8 inch thick. Put aside until time to fill with meat.
Cook meat:
- In a frying pan over medium heat melt margarine. Saute onion and scallion until soft. Stir in ground beef then add 1 teaspoon curry powder, thyme, salt, and pepper. Cook and stir until beef is brown. Stir in beef broth and bread crumbs. Simmer until liquid is absorbed. Remove from heat.
Assemble patty:
- Spoon equal amounts of filling into each pastry circle. Fold over and press edges together with a fork. Should resemble 1/2 circle sealed at the edges. Brush the top of each patty with the beaten egg.
Bake:
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
